Девочка спасается, и партизан увозит ее прочь на лодке.► Фильм, характерный для периода обновления югославского кино в конце 70 - начале 80-х гг., кульминацией которого станет международный прорыв картины Папа в командировке, Otac na službenom putu. Основные достоинства Балканского Экспресса: ритмичность и понимание вкуса публики, ироничность, бодрость, плотность повествования «в итальянском стиле», нравственная идея (или антиидея), на очень удачном наглядном примере доказывающая, что любые «оккупированные», будь они циниками или патриотами, трусами или смельчаками, маргиналами или полноценными членами общества, рано или поздно встают на путь сопротивления и, по своей ли воле или нет, начинают приносить ощутимую пользу. Одиссея пятерых «героев поневоле» проливает свет правды на действия подполья. Оно отнюдь не на 100 % состояло из героев, но принимало помощь от самых разных людей, если они могли приблизить победу. Сочность, жестокость, реалистичность помогают создать красочное историческое полотно, совершенно не похожее на привычные лубки, которые штамповали в соцстранах.
